It’s coming down to the wire for the new Aspen Music Festival and School. Workers are cranking on finishing up construction and landscaping for the sixty-five million dollar project. It’s supposed to be mostly done by this Friday. Aspen Public Radio’s Elise Thatcher toured the new digs last week has this report.

Alan Fletcher is President and CEO of the Aspen Music Festival and School. He carefully tip-toes his way across fresh dirt, pipelines and around a pond...finally he stops and points toward three striking buildings that overlook the water.

Also, luthier Joan Balter recounts stories of teaching legend Dorothy DeLay and violinists Joshua Bell, Midori and Sarah Chang as child prodigies.

Yiyun Li grew up in Beijing and came to the United States in 1996. Her stories and essays have been published in The New Yorker, Best American Short Stories, O Henry Prize Stories, and elsewhere. Her books include A Thousand Years of Good Prayers, The Vagrants and Gold Boy, Emerald Girl. She was selected by Granta as one of the 21 Best Young American Novelists under 35, and was named by The New Yorker as one of the top 20 writers under 40. MacArthur Foundation named her a 2010 fellow. She is a contributing editor to the Brooklyn-based literary magazine, A Public Space.

Nancy Wilhelms is the new Executive Director of the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado. Summer is full of events for Anderson Ranch: 140 workshops, featured and visiting artist lectures, weekly art "auctionettes" and children's programs. Wilhelms shares how locals, visitors, artists and non-artists can experience Anderson Ranch this summer.
