Cycling is trying to prove it’s clean. The sport has had a public relations disaster as one after another rider has admitted to doping in years past... including icon and superstar Lance Armstrong. But organizers and younger athletes maintain the sport is far cleaner now, partly because of the kinds of tests used to catching athletes cheating. Aspen Public Radio took a look at what that actually involves.

Pro Cycling Challenge: Mixed Feelings from Aspen, Snowmass Business Community

For two days this week, the upper Roaring Fork Valley played host to more than one hundred professional cyclists, their staffs and lots of fans. It was the third year the USA Pro Challenge brought this contingent through Aspen. As Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen reports, the race’s economic impact is good and bad, depending on whom you talk to.

USA Pro Challenge Updates from the Road

Aspen Public Radio's Elise Thatcher is in car 8 in the moving convoy following the Champion System team. They're riding from Aspen to Breckenridge for Stage 2 of the USA Pro Challenge.

Today's Stage 2 of the  USA Pro Cycling Challenge takes riders over Independence Pass and over to Breckenridge. The riders will zoom through Buena Vista, Fairplay and Alma before they reach the finish line. Aspen Public Radio's Elise Thatcher is getting an insider's glimpse. With the USA Pro Cycling Challenge upon us, spectators and athletes are both focused on the excitement during the race.
