2014 Winter Olympics from the Inside

Fashion, Friendship and Clean Streets

EDITOR’S NOTE: We are very excited to share the travels of Simi Hamilton’s family to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing dispatches from Ruthie Brown and family as they give you a first-hand, “behind-the-scenes” look at the Olympics.

Sim had a day off so we wandered the streets of Rosa Khutor, Krasnaya Polyana and Esta Sudoku. In spite of the masses of people roaming the streets, which are closed off to all cars, the streets are immaculate with constant street cleaners who walk about with little brooms and dust pans.

The masses have certainly been employed for the Games. There are huge buildings sitting empty, many still under construction and some with maybe just one store open inside. We keep wondering what will happen after the Games...to all of this!!???

We had a good visit and inside stories on what was happening up at the athlete village from Noah and Sim - the food is still great, the accommodations remain excellent, their spirits happy. Noah spent a few nights down in the USA House in Esta Sudoku to hang out with the Nordic Combined Team and the Jumpers just to change it up a bit - nice that they all have such good relationships.
