Eleven Applicants Vye for Open Aspen City Council Seat
Eleven people have applied to fill a vacant seat on Aspen City Council. Monday afternoon was the deadline to turn in an application and two of the candidates who ran in this spring’s municipal election applied.
The council seat was vacated when Steve Skadron became mayor earlier this month. He had two years left in his term, which will be filled by one of the applicants. City council will vote on who gets the job.
The applicants who ran for office in the May election include L.J. Erspamer and Dwayne Romero. Other applicants include a ski instructor, an artist and a couple of real estate brokers. One applicant, Jason Elliot, turned in his materials after the deadline. The City's attorney will decide whether he can be part of the pool of applicants.
The applicants will be interviewed by council during the first week of July. At least one public forum will be held with the group. Below is a list of all of the candidates and their occupations.
